The ideal candidate has knowledge of handling complex litigation. YOU MUST HAVE SIGNIFICANT LITIGATION EXPERIENCE, specifically drafting and creating responses in preparation for litigation, including trial work.
Broad scope of courtroom dockets and filings, as well as managing the workload and document management inherent in significant deep-dive cases; great customer service skills; ability to develop relationships with clients built on accountability and communication; must have experience handling drafting and negotiating. You will also have responsibility for some traditional Legal Assistant responsibilities (including e-filing, case management, filing and document management) as part of the hybrid role.
If case goes to litigation (40% go to litigation and trial), responsibilities include:
Client and case file set-up; processing and responding to written discovery; scheduling of litigation deadlines; working closely with the firm’s clients and others in a litigation support role; be familiar with the State Rules of Civil Procedure, with a working knowledge of the Florida e-filing process. Federal Rules of Civil Procedure are a plus, but not a requirement.
You should have worked with contracts and other business documents, and be able to read and understand the motions that are being generated. Personality-wise, the client likes individuals who are Hungry to Learn, Humble to occasionally do administrative tasks and Smart to interpret the nuances of the case.
